Limepad is an AI tutor. To teach you, it has to see what you write on the board, hear what you ask, and read the notes you upload. This page explains exactly what that means.
What we keep
- Your account: your name and email, from Apple or Google when you sign in.
- Your sessions: the topic, what you typed or said (as text), what Limepad said back, and the board as you left it.
- What Limepad remembers about how you learn: short notes on what you found hard (for example "mixed up two treaties"), so later lessons can help with it.
- Your library: the photos and documents you upload, and the text Limepad read from them.
- Your settings: your level, your language, the year you were born (to check you're 13 or older), and when you agreed to how Limepad uses AI.
- Your subscription: which plan you're on, and when it renews or ends. We never see your payment details: Apple handles payment.
- Your free session: whether you've had it, and how much of it you used.
- Reports you send us about something Limepad said.
- A count of how many AI requests and lessons you started recently, so we can apply our fair-use limits, and how much each one cost us to run (characters spoken, amounts of text processed), so we can keep Limepad affordable.
Who else sees it
Limepad is built on a few other services. They only get what they need to do their part:
- An AI language-model provider writes Limepad’s answers. It receives your messages, your voice questions (to turn them into text), pictures of the board when you write or draw on it, and the files you upload (to read the notes in them). Its safety checks also look at your messages, Limepad’s replies, your uploads and lesson pictures, to keep anything harmful or inappropriate out of your sessions.
- A text-to-speech provider gives Limepad its voice. It receives only the text Limepad is about to say, not your voice or your work.
- A cloud hosting provider runs our database, file storage and servers, where everything above is kept.
- A subscription service keeps track of your subscription for us. It receives your account ID and your purchases from Apple, never your sessions or your work.
- Apple handles payment for subscriptions under its own terms; we never see your card details.
- Apple's DeviceCheck service lets us mark a device as having had its free session, so each device gets one. Apple keeps that mark for the device; it isn't linked to your account, your name or anything you do in Limepad, and we never learn which device it is.
- An online picture library supplies the pictures in lessons. When Limepad looks one up, it sends a few words about the topic.
- The browser on your board (a widget you add) opens websites straight from your device, like any web browser: those sites see what any site sees (your IP address, your device type) and work under their own privacy policies, not ours. We don't record which sites you visit; we only keep the address of the page your browser was last on, saved with your board so it reopens there. Searches always have SafeSearch turned on.
- These providers are based in the United States, so your data may be processed there. They work under agreements that require them to protect it. You can ask us for the list of providers at any time.
These services process your data for us under their own privacy terms and may keep it for a limited time (for example, to prevent abuse). We don’t let them use it to advertise to you.
What we don’t do
- No ads, and we don’t sell or rent your data.
- No tracking across other apps or websites.
- The microphone is only on in a session when you turn it on (the mic button), and it goes off when you leave the app. While it's on, Limepad listens for you speaking; only the moments you speak are turned into text, and the recordings themselves are deleted from your device straight away and never stored.
Deleting your data
Delete a session or a library folder and it’s gone. Delete your account (Settings → Delete account) and everything above is erased from our database and storage straight away, and your record at the subscription service is deleted. Deleting your account doesn’t cancel an App Store subscription: cancel it in your Apple ID settings.
Age
Limepad is for high school and college students aged 13 and up. We ask for your year of birth when you first sign in. If you’re under 13, we delete your account straight away. If you’re under the age where your country lets you agree to this on your own, ask a parent or guardian to read this page and agree with you.
Keeping Limepad safe
When the safety checks stop something, we record only that it happened and what kind of thing it was, never what was said. When you report something Limepad said, we keep that report so we can look into it.
